Lewis, E. H. Cross, and 0. G-. Lockwood. It was ' resolved that runners-up in the Canterbury championships should be awarded second-class certificates. The Oram's Bay, Athletic Sports Club, was granted permission to run two amateur, events, a 100 yds handicap, and, a mile, handicap, at tho aports meeting on May 14th. Tho BT.Z.AA.A. advised that F. The N.Z.A.A.A. wrote explaining a "Jack of information concerning tho inclusion of Mr Laing in tho Kew Zealand team at Wellington on tho 28th ult." Tho position was that Laing was included because it was known ho was going to Wellington to compete with a team representing Canterbury in the relay race for tho Heenan Baton. Had he not been going tho extra expanee of bringing him, would probably not have been incurred. Laing wafc informed of his eelecliou on arrival, and he agreed to mi as suggested. Under tho circumstances it was thought that tho Council oould .nfft be held responsible for any part of the expense. MeBSTa Cross and Flewellyn both considered the Centre and Mr Laing should have been notified of Laing's inclusion in the team. . . A resolution expressing the opinion that tho Centre should have been notified of the New Zealand representatives, waa passed. . Mr Taylor objected to the New Zealand tests becoming what he called "Wellington versus the visitors." The chairman considered outside runners should be given a chance to compete in Wellington. „,,'., On the motion of Mr Taylor it was resolved that Now Zealand representatives should co selected from tho various provinces, irrespective of whether tho men came . from Wellington or not. Kegarding tho reinstatement rule, the Council wrote: "It is realised that the rule in its present form is perhaps too drastic under the conditions existing in .Now Zealand, and I havo been, instructed to inform vou that a 6 ub-committeo has been appointed to draw up. a case for•preecntatioTto tho International *«*«»*"J through tho A.A.
