N.Z. FIRE BRIGADES.
THE RECENT DEMONSTRATION. A meeting of the executive of the Fire Brigades' Demonstration Committee was held last night at the chief city fire station. Present—Messrs J. F. Grierson (chairman), A. Peverill, J. S. Hawkes, C. Millington, Superintendents C. C. Warner,"R. B. Hean, A. Jiainbery, J. Carter, 1!. Sinclair, It. A. Stokes, and Mr F. ]£. Talbot (hon. sec.). The secretary reported having received from the English Park authorities the sum of i'lo ss, being one-half of the net receipts of the sports meeting held in connexion with the Demonstration. ' It was reported; iu respect of the first prize in the art union, that the winner was not able to produce his. ticket, but had made a declaration before a Justice of the Peace, stating that the ticket, had been lost, and indemnifying the committee against any claims in-the event of the ticket being produced.
It was decided to obtainlegal advioe a» to the committee's position. The secretary reported that when outstanding liabilities were met and amounts due were received,-there would.be a balance to credit; at present it stood at £124. '
It was decided to purchase certain prizes won at the sports, and to .grant a bonus to the caretaker of the A. and P. Association's Show Grounds, who had given great assistance in connexion with the Demonstration. The question of a Bonus to the secretary was .held over till the nest meeting.
