"CAPTAIN BLOOD."
In the past notable super-films have beta produced on most sr«cUcular linos, but in some Cases there has been one obvious fault—the spcctaoular side has been overdone, whilo the main theme has been neglected. The result has been monotony. But in "Captain Olood," .Rafael Sabatiui's story, which will be tlionrn at the Liberty and Grand Theatres on Friday, we have a superb production iu which spectacular scenes, action and romance are a!l perfectly blended, so that there is not a dull moment from start to finish Old World settings always make for ciurraing picture*, for it was in the past that chivalry was in vogue. 'Captain Blood" is ft story of the days when the tyrant James 11, was on the throne. Tho hxn> is a doctor who is Bold into slavery for no crime at ell. He later becomes a pirate, whose name is feared tho world over, 'ilien, through a series of events, crammed ijKth excitement, he becomes Governor of Jamaica, and marries the girl of his heart. There are scenes in this feature that rival anything ever beforo put upon a screen. Grand old sailing ships make Stirring pictures, tierce sea, battles are waged and boats are seen blown to "the skies, or slowly sinking after being wrecked with shells. One of the greatest scenes is that | of tho attack of the French upon Port Hcyal, bn occasion on which Captain Blood proves his salt. Bealism. is added to the spectacle by the fact that the explosions from the guns, or fires aboard the ships are reproduced in natural colours. The love story is* delightful, the settings tremendous iina yet exquisitely perfect, end the acting superb. J. Warren Kerrigan and Jean Paige head a huge cast. Little more need be said except that this is a picture that any picture theatre management should be proud to fecreen,- and which all lovers of- really fine romances should see.
