Nominations for the Ambcrley liacIng Club's Annual Meeting close at the Canterbury Jockey Club's rooms at 8 p.m. on Friday. The club has drawn up a good programme of six galloping and two trotting events, particulars of which can be fouud in yesterday's "Press."

Lucius, by Luctillus —March, has been purchased by the Wellington sportsman, Mr W. Higgins. Lucius is a brother to Queen March and a half-brother to Te Kara. He showed fair form by winning at the Takapuna Spring Meeting, but lias failed to earn a bracket since.
The steeplechaser Tuki is in work again at New Plymouth, with a viewto winter racing." Tuki is by Quiii Abbey, and earlier in the season showed promise over country.
The Grand National Hurdles winner Lochson is progressing satisfactorily in his work, and will be well forward by the time the Great Northern Meeting at Ellerslie is held.
All Wind, the five-year-old gelding by All Red, is spoken of very favourably as a hurdler in Taranaki. He may make his appearance over sticks at the"Egmont Racing Club's Winter Meeting.
Erie was recently tried but over big country in company with Kaforte, and gave a good exhibition. The Nassau marc was successful Over hurdles at Waverley, Feilding, and Wangainii during tho present season, and should do even better in her new sphere.
Pitch, a gelding by Merry Moment— Shona May now racing in the Commonwealth, defeated a hot favourite at a recent meeting at Goodwood, returning a dividend of over n century. This was Ids first start at Perth. Keremoana and Lady Cavendish have between them won £ I GOIS for their owner, Mr G. F. Moore. On the other hand Lady Bcntinck, who also carries that owner's colours, has been placed seven times during the season without Winning.
That smart sprinter Dan Quin is to be.tried over hurdles during the winter season. Most of tho Quin Abbeys jump weltyand if such is the case with this latest recruit lie should gather in one or two useful stakes before the handicappers get his measure. B. Thompson's injuries when Buckeye fell with him at Ellerslie wore thought to consist of a broken thigh, but it has now boen found that the injuries arc in the hip and pelvis. W. Thero arrived at Wellington by the Sydney steamer yesterday two fine'year-' lings, purchased at the Sydney sales bv Mr A. B. Williams. One is a solidlooking brown colt by Comedy King from Joyeusc, a brother to Mimetic, and the other is a chestnut colt by the New- Zealand-bred Humbug. Tho latter is a picture of his sire. Also on the steamer were three yearlings for Mr C. Elgar. There is a colt by Comedy King from Camellia, by St. Alwync from Wakeful, a colt by Bosettdale from Pansy, by Polymelus, and a filly by Rosendale from a Polymelus mare".
