YESTERDARY'S MEETING. The Trimwny Board met yesterday afternoon. Present —Messrs H. Pearce (chairman), A. S.' Taylor, John Wood, W. J. Walter, D. Sykes, Geo. T. .Booth, J. A. Fleeter,' E. W. White, and tho Hon. J. Barr, M.L.O. The Works and Traffic Committeo submitted a lengthy report regarding tho ''out" and "in" stopping places ut Pa-panui. Tho committee recommended that, in respect of the "out" stop, tho new plan of stopping in front of the Post Office should be.tried out. As to the suggestion regarding the "in" stop, tho report stated that the laying of a double track through Memorial square, in order that outbound cars could stop nearer the footpath, could not "be eritertaincd, as it would necessitate expensive work at the junction into tho lcop, as well as expense in altering tracks elsewhere: tho risk to passengers wa2 not great enough to warr.mt the expenses involved, and what risk there is could be minimised by the present stop, ■or a safety zjne. With regard to sbunt.n? trailers, the committee set out reasons for adhering-to the. present practice. The report was adopted, with the exception of tho portion referring to shunting of trailers, which was referred back to the committee for further consideration. The committee further reported that two councillors from Auckland/ accompanied by the general manager, recently visited Christchurch, and were shown ever the system. In a letter since received, the committee was glad to note that they were paj-ticu-Marly impressed with the cond.tion of tramway tracks over such a largo area.
