WELLINGTON, Novemher 20.

The first .meeting of tho Wellington City-and Suburban Highways Control Board was held to-day, the Mayor (Mr B. Al. Wright) presiding. Mr H. Short (Eastbourne) explained that Eastbourne, Johnsonville, and Upper Hutt had not yet elected their joint representative' on the Board, The needs of the districts were so diverse that it was impossible for one man to do justice to all three. ■ It was agreed to allow a representative from each district to attend meetings, though only one would be allowed to vote. Reductions of the speed limit over certain sections of the Hutt road were desired by motorists, and consideration of the' request was promised.
