SWIMMING.
TIMARU CLUBS. (SPECIAL 10 "tub psxss.") TIMARU, November 20. The annual meeting.of'the Swifte Amateur Swimming Club was held this evening, Mr 2£. A. Raymond being in the chair. The annual report stated that tho credit balance of SI at the commencement of the season had been increased to £&1 at the end of the season, showing the club to be in a strong financial position. The total number of financial members was 34, as compared with 26 for the previous season. The Mayo Cup contest had attracted fourteen competitors, and had been won by W. Inllicot. The carnival held in the Century baths on January 17th had. been very successful. It was hoped to- make this an annual event. Tho thanks,'of .the club were due to the donors of trophies, to the Haibpnr Board for use of the harbour for the Mayo Cup race, and to the starters and handicappera. Tie election of officers resulted.as follows:—Patron, Mr Wm. C. Raymond; president Mr A." E. Horwell; vice-presidents,. MeßSrs C. G. Snow, H. H. Rtaser, K. Mayo, F. J. Dunn, G. T. Wardell, J. V. McKeague, A. Timpany, W. Karton, and Alex. Wilson; clrib captain, Mr F". G. Raymond;' vice-captain, Mr T. Cullen; honorary secretary, Mr M. A. Raymond; committee, Messrs J. Brown, L. Eaton, G. Earwaker, G. R.. Curtis, S. Earl, and A. H. Steward; honorary auditor, Mr R.S. Goodman; delegates to Centre, Mesam M.' A. Raymond and. P. Whisker; coach and trainer, Mr P. Whisker. It was decided to hold the official opening' on November 29th.
The matter of holding a carnival was left in tho hands of the committee.
It was agreefl to affiliate with the New Zealand Life Saving Society. •Tho Old Boys' Swimming Club held its annual meeting this evening, Mr A. J>. Leslie presiding. *: The annual repont stated that Borne of the members had been successful at competitions held at Ashburton and Oamaru. Tho annual carnival had been very auccessful, and the committee had t-oen pleased to have entries from Ashburton and Temuka, as well as a largo number from the High School. During tho season 13 weekly races had been held, and in most cases had drawn large entries. The club had suffered in the 1033 of valuable active members in Messrs F. Rasmussen, D. A. Lawson, and A. Johnston, who haa* been transferred from Timaiu. The committee congratulated Mr R. F. Stewart, one of its members,, in having been included Black team. .Mr D. Lindsay had again brought honour to the club by representing ;South Canterbury at tho New Zealand championships. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £8 19s Sd. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr IV. Thomas; president, Mr R. J. McKeown; vice-presidents, Messrs W. D. Kevell, W. Raymond, and C. E. Kerr; club captain, Mr S. D. Mason; secretary, Mr W. Carlton; tressurer, Mr C. W. Woods; auditor, Mr A. N. Leslie; committee, Messrs D. Lindsay, A. Strang, and, W. Lawson.
It was decided to raise the senior subscription ito 3a 6d to cover the registration f eee.
A Constitution Committee .consisting of Messrs Wood, Mason, and Allport.was sat up to draw up the constitution and rules of the club.
