NEW BRIGHTON SURF CLUB.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The first meeting of tho new . committee of the New Brighton Surf Club was held on Monday night, when matters in connexion . with the . forthcoming " season- were dealt wHh. Sub-committeea to carry out th 6 various aetvities of the club were set up. It was' decided to commence the patrol of the beac:: on Sunday. In view of the Nelson Shield competition (Dominion championship) . .taiing place on the New Brighton beach, it will be necessary for all members to make an early start 'with their training. ' . It was decided to inaugurate a ompetition -lor the boya of tho New Brighton School (winners of tie Collins Cup), a trophy haying been siven by onb of the vice-preeidenta of the club. ■ The matter of outstanding subscriptions was gone into, and a eub-committee was sat up and requested to take drastic action in the' collecting of the accounts. ■ It was left to the Life-Saving Committee to. see that the whole of the plant of tho club was put in first-class condition. The matter of procurii«g a new reel.' was also left in their hands. ' The. usual custom of recommending all officers and committeemen to the Borough Council for appointment as beach inspectors was decided/on and it was moved that the Mayor bo asked to attend .the next meeting for the purpose of swearing in.
