INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. .A .meeting of-the-Canterbury Industrial Association was- held last' night, Mr H. E. Best presiding. The Canterbury Progress League wrote stating that a meeting in connexion with the New Zealand and South Seas.Exhibition would be held in Christchurch nest week, when representatives of the Exhibition' Company would be present to explain various details respecting the scheme. ; It was hoped that the meeting would result' in a Christchureii Committee being set up. The meeting went info committee to deal with the question, and on resuming the chairman- stated that it had been cided to.; send no delegates to the meeting, and : that as soon as possible after the meeting the Emergency Committee would meet and;supply a letter for publication, setting out tho Association's views on the matter.. • • It was decided' to attend the service to be held in'the-Cathedral in connexion with Anniversary Day.

' A letter was received from a firm of local-woollen manufacturers suggesting that, in future, Industries Week should be held in the autumn instead of the spring. The firm in question, stated that it • "manufactured • principally winter goods, ' and such being the •case there was not much advantage: in parading them in the spring. . The letter,wa3 received, arid it was deeided.to refer the letter to the incoming committoo for consideration. It was agreed to support the Canterbury-; Progress League on its protest against the. Government pooling the'interest charges on capital in connexion with hydro-electricity scbomes. The secretary''., was instructed .to .bring the matter.under the notice of the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. J. G. Coatcs). The' matter of attaching labels to goods made in Sew Zealand, so that tbey might be identified as such, was referred to the incoming:committee to be. dealt :with..'
