NEXT TEAR'S. DEMONSTRATION. The Executive, /Finance," and Art Union. Committeo of the New Zealand United Fire Brigades' Demonstration, lobe held' in Christchurch 'next March, was held at the Chief Fire Station last night. There were present: Messrs J. F. Grierson. (chairman), RC. Bishop, P. H. "Harris, C. A. Oakcs, C. Milliiigton, • Major J. P. Oakcs, Superintendents C C. Warner, R. Sinclair, .R. Stokes, R. B. Hean, DeputySuperintendent. C. J; Blake, and the secretary (Mr F. E. Talbot). ' The town Clerk (Mr J. S. Neville) wrote that the . Mayor 'Mr J. A. F'esher) .accepted, with much pleasure, hit, appointment as president of the Demonstration Committee.

Mr A. D. Ford, Mayor of Riccarton, wrote accepting a seat on the executive, and stating "that, ho- would do all that ho could to assist. ■ It was decided-that the , torchlight .procession and fireworks display take place on the -Addmgton Show Grounds ,011, the night of March' 3rd. .the-day prior to the opening of the demonstration, and to make a charge for. admission to the grounds. A deputation consisting of the chariman, vSupenntendent Warner, and the iecretary,:was appointed to wait on the A. and 1.. Association to discuss details regarding the use'of- the grounds. The question of drawing-up a programme to supplement the fireworks display, was referred-to the Programme • and Entertainment. Committee. . The secretary, reporting on tne coloured water display on Show rsight, stated-that a very large crowd' attended in Victoria square. The liremen sold art •union tickets totalling" £l9 , J 10;> -i more tickets could have been soid_ir more-sellers'had been, available. Expenses in. connexion with the display amounted to £l4. ~ • , ■Superintendent Gainer said that the display had given the demonstration a good boost. The basal Committee of the City Fire Brigade had voted *2 2s to the contest fund of the Municipal Band .in appreciation ,of its services at the display. Matters relating to the canvass of the city, were .'discussed and the preliminary steps were decided upon-
