A good deal of gambling is said to be going on at present among local bank customers in American drafts, and tho upward trend of sterling has been responsible for some losses and some gains. Ho did not lift it until this morning, when tho exchange rate standing at 4.71, he nuule a clear £4 10s. To a man who left a draft running into thousands with his bank there ha* been given a tidy Christina? present by the rise of the pound.
