RELAXATION BALL.
..The wet weather in no way interfered with the attendance at the Kclaxation Ball held Inst night in the College Hal] tt Canterbury College. Freed for the time from the daily routine of (.•lasses, and buoyed by the thought of the long vacation, the students and their friends entered thoroughly into the gaiety of the moment, though, occasionally, amidst the happy throng, one heard an older student remark rather wistfully, that last night's gathering was, for him, the last dance ho would attend at College as a student.
The hall was gay with streamers of maroon and gold, and supper was set in the botany c!nss-roo'ni. After, the third dance the football and athletic honours won during the past season were presented to their radiant winners by Mrs Chilton. The members of the committee responsible for the dance were Misses Beryl Parlane, Enid Bowie, Messrs A. Gillies, R. Standeu, and C. Stephens. Amongst those present were:—Mrs Chilton, who wore black brocade trimmed with jet; Mrs Harrison, black maroeain; Mrs Pennington, fuchsia satin, the skirt being beautifully embroidered in gold: Misses Beryl Parlane, black georgette with touches of jade green; Enid Bowie, blue and cerise shot taffeta; P.ita Richards, vieux rose velvet; Joyce Francis, celurearc blue coliennc with pink rose; Monica Richards, crimson panne , velvet: Marjorie Buekhnrst, cherry red taffeta with front skirt-panel of ivory brocade, embroidered in cherry red; G',ve;i Smyth, black eharmeuse and georgette, brightened with a large pink f rcse; Daphne Brass, apricot georgette; Lorna Saunders, cerise satin with radium lace panel; Maisie Greig, eggshell blue satin and georgette, with lloral garniture at, the waist; Mrs E. WEDDINGS. GARRETT—INOCENT. A pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Mark's Church, llakaia, when Miss May lnocent, of itakaia, was married to Mr George Garrett, of Amberley. The church was decorated for the occasion with white flowers. The Rev. E. N. Blakiston was the officiating clergyman, and Mrs Blakiston presided at th>) crgan. The bride, who was given *away by her brother, Mr T. Inceent (Amberley) wore a gown of white brocaded satin with sleeves and side panels of radium lace. Her veil was arranged from a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a sheaf of arum lilies. Two bridesmaids were in attendance, Miss Hood, of Sbmerton, who wore a frock of saxe blue satjn maroeain, and Miss Phelps, of Ashburton, attired in a frock of almond green crepo de chine. Both wore hats of black •georgette'with trimmings to tone with their frocks and carried bouquets of roses. The best man was Mr Milne, of Snotstiswood, Cheviot. After the ceremony a reception was held in St. Mark's schoolroom, where Mis Crossley received the guests. The Rev. E. N. A quiet wedding was recently solemnised at St. James's Church, Lower Riccarton, when Ethel Mona, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs P. of shell-pink ruarocain and a hat of the same shade with touches of mauve. Her bouquet was of pink roses and tulips. Little Peggy Haskett, , cousin of the bride, was : flower-girl and wore palest mauve organdi with touches of pink, and carried a quaint little basket iillcd with clusters of wistaria. Mr W. Weir, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The wedding breakfast was partaken of at the residence of the bride's aunt, Mrs H. Carleton, Nelson street, where the usual toasts were honoured. When the happy couple left later by motor on their wedding tour the bride wore a very smart costume of figured grey marccain with a chick little grey hat to match.
