BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION.
♦ NORTH BEACH AND WAIMAIRI. A meeting of Ihs Xcnth Beach Buraressei' Association was he'd on Wednesday, Mr E. A. M. Leaver presiding. There were also present—-The Be v. W. F. Knowles (secretary), Messrs J. !■'. Wilson, 13. Wilson, F;nn, Freeborn, Insbnc, Fr::nklin, Rowlands, Perrin, und Scott. Apologies lor absence wrtrp reosived from Messrs Urcrt and Stvahan. Mr D. Wilscn reported on the deputation that waited on the Borough Council, stating lha-t ihey were welj received and, the matters discussed were being attended to.
A letter was received from the Papanui Bnrgessev' Association, eiic'osing circular copy of a- resolution rcfrardiiifr drainage and high pressure water supply matters. The Xeiv Brighton Borough Council wrote stating that the owner of the corner section which was blocking tho footpath in Racecourse toad had been given notice to fence; that the question of a ranker v.-aa receiving attention; that Pacific io:id w;s being formed and metalled as requested; and that the paths in Jubilee avenue would be formed in their turn. It was decided to reply thariking- the Council for their courteous treatment of the Association. A letter wa;S received from the St. Albans Burgesses' Association o-n tramway matters. The secretary reported on the conference with the St. Albanß body, stating that a deputation was 1o wait on tho Tramway Board ou a date arranged. Messrs Leaver, "Wilson, and Strnhan were appointed to represent North Beach on the deputation, which was to urge tho importance of connecting the No 2 and No. 10 lines at Shirley.
The Drainage Board wrote in reply to a request to have the towing paths opened that, the Board -controlled the water-way only and not the, banks. It was decided to obtain wore information -regarding cas:?s of trespass and controlling bodies beforo proceeding iiutier in the matter. Messrs «J. F. Wilson and S. Freeborn woro elected members of the Association.
It was agreed far urge the New Brighton Borough Council to transfer the land on which the North Beach school stands to the Education Board.
The question of access to tho school ground from Jubilee avenue again cropped up. The chairman explained that the Council' proposed to make a road, provided the Education Department would. buy the land.
