(PWS3 A3SOCUTIO3? TJIAGiAM.) ( TArMAßt'Ntri. October SO. .The Main Trunk express from Auckland to Wellington was delayed between- Eraa and Pukoko, owing to a breakdown of the engine. The mishap occurred about 4 a.m., at a spot a mile, past Erua. and the train was delayed for live hours, getting under way again about 9 a.m. The cause of the accident was a broken sliaft. The engine pulled up with a jerk, and four or five sleepers were torn up. The passengers received a severe shake, but no serious damage was done. An engine was sent out from Ohakuhc, and when the damage was repaired the train proceeded on its journey.
