annual report. The annual report of the Chiistohurcli Boy Scout local Association, states that the first year's work under the new regulations has been successful. Terrace troop, having been instrumental in averting what would probabiy have been a. double tragedy at Corsair .bay. Tho record of troops' worn in scouting practices, tlio report continuea, show increasing appreciation oi the possibilities of the movement, and more. camps and treks were held than in any previous year. There is, however, a great need for suitable men to come forward as scout officers to tram the inci easing number of boys. All attempt is to be maile to. solve the scoutmaster problem by forming an Association Scout Company, and if the citizens of Chris tchurch give the needed support, the success of the new departure will be assured. Much useful work was done by the scouts in delivering circulars, etc., issued by tho Citizens .Asgociation in connexion with the prevention of bubonic plague. Through the Navy Leaguo having given £51)0 for the eea scouts, determined efforts are being made to reorganise the troops, and troops have been formed at Sumner, iledciifis, and Kaiapoi, while the Lyttelton sea scourts havo been soundly organised on business-like lines. The balance-sheet showa a credit balance of £34 16s 9d. In conclusion, tho executive committee recommends the citizens of Christchurch to give the scout movement their whole-hearted support, from both a sympathetic and a financial point of view.
