"THE MAN OF DESTINY."

The box plan for the two nightß' season of "Tho Man of Destiny," on April 6th and 11th, opens at Tho Bristol on Monday morning. The chance of seeing a Bernard Shaw production will no doubt be welcomed by Christchurch people, and "Tho Man of Destiny" possesses all the Shavian qualities in a marked degree. The task of interpreting the role of Napoleon Bonaparte has been entrusted to Professor J. Shelley, whose experience both in producing and acting will no doubt make his portrayal a striking one. Though there is a conventional rendering of the Great Emperor in a characteristic, attitude this conception is far from accurate when dealing of the period when the star of Napoleon was just beginning to rise. The dolineation of Shaw's conception offers great scope to tho actor, and, in the sidelights on the character > and genius of Napoleon, there is much to stimulate the historic imagination and make vivid the etirring incidents of over a hundred years ago. All tho characters in tho play are drawn in Shaw's inimitable manner. The Canterbury College Drama Society is giving the proceeds of the production to tho col'.ego tournament fund. Popular prices (inclusive of tax and booking fee) are being charged, and 4s and 3s seats may be reserved.
