ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY.
Tha annual report of the Christchurch Orchestral Society states that tho year ended December 31st last wa3 a very satisfactory one, and the orchestra, under its enthusiastic and hard-working conductor, Mr A. L. Sutton, was very highly commended for its work. Large and appreciative audiences attended the concerts, and the institution of a "request" programme met with very satisfactory results. ' A Sunday afternoon concert resulted in about £BO being added to tho Unemployment h'urd. By the regretted resignation of Miss Vwa Barker, owing to her approaching marriage, the orchestra lost its leader. The report conc.udes that prospects for a successful 1822 eeason are very bright. The balance-sheet shows a credit balanco of £lO is lid.
