® REDUCED DIVIDEND. . The Greater J. D. Williams's Amusements Co., Ltd. r earned o net profit of £21,378 6a 2d, during the year ended December 81st last (says the Sydney "Sun"). With £7OOI 17a 7d brought into the accounts, £23,330 3s 9d was available. An interim dividend of 6d a eharo paid on October 18th absorbed £4512 13a. It is now proposed to mako a similar distribution making 5 per cent, for the year, leaving £19,354 17s 9d to be carried forward. Mr H. T. Russell, chairman of directors, states: —"The picture business generally has shown a 'decided depression in every paart of the world, and Australia has been no exception, particularly during the latter part of 1921, but while business is not yet back to its former standard at t the same time there is a decided improvement noticeable. TJie plague outbreak in Brisbane was disastrous lor the parent company's operations there, »,ad the scare in Sydney also had a detrimental effect, which, coup lei with the great unemployment amongst those who are the backbone of tho picture theatres, reduced-the receipts of the Sydney theatre®."
