G- Dowriie, a Salvation Army officer, who resides at 8 Conference street was knocked down in Colombo street about 9 a.m. yesterday by a boy. on a bicycle, and received a nasty cut on the head. He was treated tit a'chemist's shop nearby and sent to (his home. The boy who caused the accident remounted his cycle after the collision and disappeared. _ *\ serious, accident occurred m Stratford shortly before seven o'clock on Tuesday evening, as a result ot which Mr H. A. Coward, a well-known Stratford resident died hi the hospita: from injuries. Mr Coward, who was .land salesman for the firm of Lynskey and Evans, was returning- by motor-car from a business visit to Manaia with Mr It. D. Wilson, of Stratford, and a. few •chains soutih of the junction of Mountain road and Opunako road the , car collided with a horse and cart drive,n by Mr R; Death, of Bird load. One of the shafts of the cart penetrated t Mr Coward's chest, making a. serious wound; Mr Wilson and Mr Death escaped injury. Mr Coward was rc-r moved to tho Stratford Hospital, but died at p.m. The motor-car and cart were very badly damaged. ,

At the inquest held at the Upper Hutt regarding the death of William Claxton "Wiseman j 08, who was found dead with his throat -cut, in a whare, evidence was riven that some eight or nine days ago deceased complained of feeling unwell, but 'he declined to see. a doctor. Constable Le Fovero- gavo evidence that .ho found Wiseman lying dead in his whare, with his throat cut: A largo knife was clasped! in his right hand. The Coroner found that Wiseman died of a wound, self-inflicted while in a state of mental depression.
