1 HEATHCOTE. The Heathcote County Council met last night. Present—Messrs G. K. Burton (chairman), C. Flavell, W.' 'lv. Scarff, A. U. Adams, arid- W." Kerr. x The resignation of Mr G.:\M. Hall, for business reasons, -was accepted wilh regret. A_ lengithy letter from . the Chriatchurch Drainofee Board, in regard to the inclusion of Cashmere in the Drainage d-istrict, was held over : fox further consideration. A letter from the Department of Internal Affairs stated that ■ the Mt. Pleasant district would he formed into a separate riding. A letter from the Post and TelegrapliDepartmerit 6tated that efforts do place under the control of one person the Poet and/ Telegraph Offices at Heathcote, and .to provide at' the combined office money .order dnd savings hank facilities, "had been -unsuccessful, aa ako had ibeen the endeavour to have money order and savings bank facilities provided 'at ,the railway station, the Railway Department being .unable to undertake the work. The business of the Department at Heathcote, it was stated, did not warrant a permanent Post and Telegraph Office, and it was regretted ( that the present facilities could not be improved. x . The letter was received. A comprehensive report by tho county olerk ou the newly joined Mt. Pleasant district was received.
