; annual meeting. The second annual meeting of the Kaiapoi branch of the' Returned Soldiers' Association .was. held on Saturday evening, Mr H. Stark presiding. -Included in the attendance were representatives of local bodies _ and sports clubs.
. The annual report stated that there had been an increase in reparation work, ,'l'lie committee! considered that whiio there wers large estates not y-ct utilised it was patriotic to ask for . subdivision for . tho beiielit of soldiers in need of help. The membership now- stood at 135, -an increase of 23 for the year. Olarkviile, Woodend, and Ohckr. had amalgamated with the Kaiapoi branch. The committee regretted that eome members failed 'to realise Ihe importance of taking ail interest .in Association matters.

TVilson and H.* C. Raddle; "New Zaland. Parliament and Local Bod es," proposed by the chairmun, arid responded to by Mr D. Jones, M.P., Sir J. H. BlacWeil (Marar ct Kaiapoi), and Mr L. B. Etvans fWarmakariri Harbour Board); "Th® Fira Brigade," "Sports » Clubs," "Th® KaiapoiBand and Riilo Club" "The Ladies," Press," and "The Chairmen." Songs and recitations were eivon by Messrs A.
