The annual swimming cparts of the girls attending the Technical High School were heid. at the Tepicl -Baths on Friday afternoon in ithepresence of .a largo attendance of par«itfl; and' pupils.. ' Mrs Whe-jley, Mr Simes, arid Mr Brcward assisted in the capa' city of judges, and the'programme of twelve events went off very satisfactorily. Miss Ireno Aga&siz secured the championship without •h'hculty, whilst Mirs Allan's "House" carried off the "House" championMiip with 48 points,. Miss Clark's being second ,wdth 33. Mr . S inicas president of tho Can tcroiuy Swimming Cefctre, complimented the. competitors on their marked improvemsnt, and ex-; pressed his pleasure at the increased interest shown by the girls' in swimming. Ludy Tyangx'r is a nrtiivo of California, and first, sprang into prominence in 191', when he established th 6 quarter-mile swimming record of.tha worrld at San he again ■ lowered the world's record for thfc same distance at Honolulu. Front. 1917 to 1320 he did not .do much swimming, ami dur-., ing tliis. period ; he sojourned in Hawaii. His recent visit to Australia saw him at the top of his form, and during his tour he csmbhshed Australian, "record for the 440 yards shott course, 600 yards long course, 880 yurda long course, 800 metres* long course, and SCO metres. .
