PIGEON FLYING.
The Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club flew a race from Parnassus oil Saturday. One hundred and fifty-three birdu were. Bent, divided amongst 19 owners competing. Tho birds were liberated at 3.43 ft.m., in dull weather and drizzling rain. They put up fairly good times under trie conditions. The winner was Woodhouse Bros.' Reta Peter, which flew the distance o'i 73 miles 1091 yards air-line in lhr 48min 7sec. The following is the velocity recorded by each owner's bird: Woodhouse Bros.' Reta Peter, 1198 yds per min; F. Smith's No. 506, 1190 yds; D. Dores No. 157, 1190 yds; G. Robertson's No. 186, 1187 yds;' B. Finnegan's Isonomy, 1186 yds; G-. Henderson's No. 940. 1174 yds; F. Kingsford's No. 998, UMvds; W. Cumming3's No. 116, 1172 yds; F. Wilson's No. 62, 1172 yds; J. Pollock's No. 659, 1166 yds; E. *Fuchs's No. 567, 1162 yds; Sandford and Rhodes's yto. 337, 116vds: A. Buckley's No. 458, 1122 yds; J. 6'Connell's No. 233, 1117 yds; H. Wilson's Lone Star, 1092 yds; J. Falconer's No. 46, 1016 yds.
