(Bt Cable—Press Association—Copyright.)
(Au«tra!ian and X.Z. Cable AB«ociation.) (Received November 9tli, S.oo p.m.) LONDON, November P. An important new clause lias been added to the Irish Government Bill, in order to prevent either the North or South making t-he new scheme a farce. The Bill provides that if the number of members returned for the Northern or Southern House, or the number taking the oath of allegience is less than half of the number composing such House, the Grown may dissolve it or transfer its powers to the Viceroy, assisted by a Committee nominated bv the Grown.
Mr Asquith said the contingency contemplated would certainly arise in Southern Ireland, which would tlifcn be reduced to the status of a Crown, colony. Sir Edward Carson did not oppose the clause, but said it would be better to give the South its choice of the present system of government or a now Parliament. Mr Bonar Law declared it was no good beating about the bush. The alternative was to tell the South it could have everything it liked. Sir Donald Maclean stated that the clause was an admission that the Bfil wins already dead. The motion was carried by 137 votes to 11. A FRUITLESS SEARCH. (Received November 9th, 8.55 p.m.) LONDON, November 9. Several hundred soldiers, with full kit, scoured the hills of Kealkil! for a reporte dstrong force of Republican troops. An aeroolane assisted in a fruitless search. The Republicans had apparently been warned.
