There were largo attendances at the Grand Theatre yesterday, the principal picture being "Under Suspicion," the cost of which was supplied by the Broadwest Company. _ A Sunshine comedy entitled "Roaring Lions in a Hospital," and other pictures ar<> also oil the orogr?.')i^n». Tho Christchurch Orchestral Society's first concert of ths current season takes place at the Choral Hall to-night. A splendid programme has been arranged. The* full orchestra will play overture, "Fingal'o Cave" (Men-delssohn-Bartholdy), Unfinished Symphony (Schubert), incidental music to tho "Merchant or Venice" (lto=se). intermezzo "Pn«»n»arv" (Elgar), "Scenes Pitteresques" (Massenet). The soloist will beMadamo Gower-Burns. The box plan for reserved eeats is at Tho Bristol, and the public will be admitted at 2s each. Arrangements have been made by the Society to have the hall comfortably heated.
