. ) The Cliristchurch Fir© Board met last night. Present—Messrs A. P. Honkins (chairman), A. Williams, H. Holland, J. A. Cameron, H. R. Rusbridgo, and A. Manning. Mr A. 11. Hopkins was re-elected ehairmaa and Mr A. Williams was elected deputy chairman. An executive committee was set up as follows : —The chairman, deputy chairman, and Mr H. B. Rusbridse. The Superintendent reported that sixteen calls had been received since tho last meeting, four for false alarm® (one malicious)', one chimney fro, two hedge fires, and nine actual fires. The estimated fire loss during the period was £615, insurances on buildings and contents £3520, estimated value of property involved £6800. The staff at proeent was two belcny its full strength, and those • positions would be filled when suitable men were available. The ' half-yearly inspection and overhaul of fire appliances under control of the Brigade wo® no& bsinpt made, aleo the- usual inspection of licensed public buildings.
