CHARGES OF PROFITEERING.
CASES PENDING. (srECIAL TO "TOE PRESS.") • WELLINGTON, June S. Though tho Profiteering Tribunals seem to bo hiding their individual lights under a bushel, the mere fact that they aro in esistenco has resulted in a fairly general marking down of prices here. The public are anxious to know what they are really doing, but their extremo modesty apparently puts a brake upon publicity. In Christchurch and Dunedin, however, cases are pending. Thero is the fow] wheat case in Ihinedin, which we are told comes on to-morrow, and in Christchurch there are quite a number of cases. A beginning will bo made in the Court there on Monday next, when the difficult question of reinstatement value will no doubt be decided. Some idea of the importance of tho issues from the trade point of view may be formed from the fact that three of tho ablest barristers in the Dominion —Sir John Findlay, Mr C. P. Skorrett. and Mr M. Myers—have been retained to tight the Crown, which will be represented by Mr W. C. MacGreeor, the well-known Duncdin Crown Solicitor.
