BOUGH TRIP OF MINISTEE OF PUBLIC WORKS.

(t p.nss association telegram.) . AA ELLINGTON, June 8. The Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister of Public Works, arrived at Gisborne this morning, having travelled overland from Xapier. The Minister described the journey, which he made in tho rain, as one of the roughest he had experienced. There were numerous slips, and three were across the road, which the Minister, with a long-hand-led shovel, assisted in clearing. Mr Coates was accorded a civic reception this morning, after which he received deputations irom various narts of the district, as far north as Matakaoa County, on the East Coast. The Minister continues his overland journey to ODotiki to-morrow.
