VICTORIA HOUSE MUTUAL AID SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING.
The twenty-first annual meeting of the Victoria House (Vv. Strange and Co., Ltd.) Mutual Aid Society was lseld in the Social C.ub rooms, on Wednesday evening, Mr Hope presiding over a largo attendance. I'ho President stated that iho year had been a very successful one, and, owing to the company's generosity in giving a special grant for the purpose, the committee had been able to extend its sphere of operations by inaugurating a Social Club, ior the use of members. The membership of the Society showed a gratifying increase, the number now beinrr 320. Curing the year 196 cases had received assistance, and all subscriptions by members had been subsidised by the company. The Society's finances vrere shown to be in a very sound position, a credit balance of i'6B9 7s 5d being carried forward. The balance-sheet was adopted, and the following officers were elected: —Patrons, Messrs "W. Strango and Geo. Harper; president, Mr F. Hope; vice-presidents, Messrs F. Hutchings and J. Martin; trustees, Messrs Wyle3, Free, and Thomson; secretary and treasurer, Miss McXeifh; hon. auditor, Mr Amott; Financa Committee, Mesdame3 Wharton and Norman, Messrs Free, Midg'.cy, Thomson, and Carson; librarian, Miss Matheson. A voto of thanks was passed to the company for its continued interest in, and practical assistance to, the Society. Votes of thanks were ako pasrtd to the hon. auditor and to the retiring committee.
