SOLDIERS' SETTLEMENT.
(By Cable—Press Association —Copyright.) (Australian and N. 2. Cable Association.) MELBOURNE, Juno 4. The Hon. E. D. Millen, Federal Minister of Repatriation, told the Land Ministers of the various States at the Premiers' Conference, that their requirements for settling soldiers were of staggering magnitude. It now transpires tliat the amount asked for was £70,000,000.
REINSTATEMENT OP STRIKERS
SYDNEY, June 4. The Progressive Party has considered tho Government's challenge respecting the reinstatement of tho 1917 railway strikers, and decided that there must be no interference with tho loyalists who responded to the National Government's call. 1
It was further decided that no reinstatement should bfe made without tho consent of the Commissioners.
It was also decided that participation in the strike only should not be regarded as a bar to re-employment .
