Tho United States ba'ttloship, Tennessee was launched to-day at Brooklyn Navy Yard. Tho ship is 624 feet long, 97 feet wide. She will carry twelve 14-inch, and fourteen 5-inch guns, and also four anti-aircraft guns. Tho cost of the vessel is stated to be 20.000,000 dollars. Sho is expected to join the Pacific Fleet on August Ist. [The Tennessee, with a displacemment of 32,300 tons, and a speed of gl knots, is of tho same class as tho Arizona, California, Idaho, Mississippi, New ! Mexico, and Pennsylvania. America's ! fleet of "Dreadnought" battleships in- i eludes eight ships armed with 12-inch j guns, ajul four ships, each armed with i ten 14-inch guns. In addition to the j seven ships of tho Tennessee type, ten j battleships and six battle-cruisers, all mounting eight 16-inch guns as their main armament, and the latter to have a speed of 35 knots, are either under construction, or about to be laid down.]
