(Received January Sth, 11. .Vj p.ra.) LONDON. January 7. Mr J. IT. Thomas, speaking at Kettering. said that the Press had expressed an opinion adverse to the rnilwaymen on the wages proposal. Tho Tress ar.d Hie public were alarmed at the prospect of another strike, butrailwavmen's lenders would go to Wednesday's meeting with a full pense of their responsibility. A strike must always lw the Inst resort. If the other side discussed the question in the same spirit, a satisfactory settlement was certain.
