INFLUENZA.
♦ OASES ON BOABD PATEENA. (press association* telegram.) WELLINGTON, January 7. Throe members of tho crew of tho Pateena developed influenza on tho way across from Nelson and Pict-on, and, on tho arrival of tho vessel this morning, they wero removed to hospital. Thoir names aro Itussoll. Hancock, anil Carncross. Tho hospital authorities stato that their condition is not gerious. The Pateena is being thoroughly fumigated and sho will not bo ablo to leave Sor Picton and Nelson to-day or Friday. The Mocraki is being sent to Picton only to-day, and an endeavour will bo mado to send tho Mapourika to Picton and Nelson on Friday. Tho watcrsiders havo refused to work the Pateena. PNEUMONIC OASES IN NELSON. (prkss assoctatiov telegram.) NELSON, January 7. At a mooting of tho Hospital Board to-day. Dr. Parr, temporary rosidont surgeon, reported that ono typical case of pneumonic influenza was admitted to tho hospital in a critical state on December 26th and died fifteen hours after admission, and tho health inspector,, in his roport for tho month, stated that five cases of pneumonic influenza had been notified in tho city, three of which wero mild and two sovero. There was also one case at Pongatoaroa.
