'l'Jie chairman welcomed back-'iimong thein ilr H. &. iiusk, and also extended a welcome to Air 3i. Uallin, who nad been appointed a delegate from the Auckland aseociatiojj to the Council. The chairman said that the associations affiliated with the Council had been having a bad time,' and, seeing that the Council was not much in need of funds at present, he moved that the subscriptions for 1917-lb be remitted. The motion was carried. A letter from the secretary ot the Auckland Association to Mr Ballui was read, n stated that tho following resolution had been passed by the Association: "That the New Zealand Council be asked to amend the rules <*overning lleatnooie Williams Shield matches, so as to give tho lbcal Association management thereof.'' The writer said tliat the Association was moving in the matter because there was a question of what ground th<\ match, should be played on, and also of alidlting umpires for the match and making necessary arrangements required in connexion with challenge matches. It', connexion with this matter, Air j_.U6k moved that it be a recommendation 'o Ihe Management Committee that all challenge matches ba managed by the local associations. ~ , * > ilr Ballin said there was very keen feelin"' in regard to the matter of grounds, et-c., in" Auckland, and he thought it impossible for a Christchurch body to adjudicate upon the questions which had arisen uiere, u, ocing that they were so far removed from knowledge oi the local situation. The motion was carriod. The chairman said that now that the war was over, he thought interest in cricket should bo stimulated, and he suggested that an invitation should be sent to tho Marylobone Cricket Club's team which to visit Australia to extend its tour to 2Cow Zenland. iir Ballin supported the proposal. He thought that Lord Hawke, who was in chargo of the team's affairs, should be asked to do his utmost to arrange tho visit. Mr Luslc said that the Auokland Association were very much in favour of. tho invitation being sent. -- It was reported that a number of other associations were also in favour of it. The suggestion was unanimously adopted,
