In reply to a communication from the League, tho Awatera County Council advised -thai tho Government had voted £200 . towards the work required at tho northern j approach to the Clarence bridge, and that | tho work had been started. Tho Minister of Public "Works notified, in ' response to the League's communication re- • lativ© to providing a temporary bridge over j tho C.anv river whilst the permanent bridge ' was being constructed, that the work of reconstruction of the present bridge would be commenced in a few days. A resolution was passed that "the Minister !'/■> heartily thanked for the provision mtdo in the Estimates for work between tho railheads, and expressing a hope that the future r.ceds of the district would be given attention. ! ; i
