NAVY LEAGUE WAR FUND.
* | MEETING OP COMMITTEE. ' A meeting of the Navy League War Fund Appeal Committee was held last evening, Mr H. J. Marriuer presiding over a good attendance. It was reported that the total amount collected to date in Canterbury for the fund wus £9479 6a lOd. The reports of the various canvassing committees wore adopted. Messrs A. Boyie, F. W. Johnston, and H. J. Marriner were appointed a deputation to wait on certain local bodies, and it was also decided to approach the Canterbury Jockey Club and the various trotting clubs about Christchurch regarding donations. The New Brighton Borough Council wrote stating that two-thirds of the proceeds of next Saturday's Gala would bo given to the fund. The letter was received with thanks. Various branches wrote stating what wag being dona in regard to the appeal, activities generally having been interrupted by the recent epidemic. The Levels County Council votol 'in stated that £863 163 6d had ao far been subscribed in tnao uu . It was reported that the sum of £8000 had ! remitted to London from Canterbury.
