OBITUARY.
Mr Thomas Burns, who for many years was in the Post and Telegraph Stores in "Wellington—retiring on superannuation about two years agodied on Tuesday. "He was a native of Scotland, and was in his 67.th year. In his younger days he followed the pea, occupying the position of sailmaker on various ships trading on the high seas. He has left two sons— Private T. L. Burns. N.Z.M.C. (on active service), and Mr R. C. Burns. The death took place in Gisborne, on June 29th, of Mr F. S. Malcolm, an old resident of Christchurch, and at one time a partner in the drapery firm of G. L. Beath and Co. (now Beath and Co., Ltd). On severing his connexion with G. L. Beath and Co., Mr Malcolm went, into business as an auctioneer in this city, and later in Gisborne. He was a prominent member of the Congregational Church, and also took great interest in the musical societies in this city. One of his sisters is Mrs G. L. Beath, and another Mrs Shephard. of Ricearton. Mrs Wickenden and Mrs A. W. Beaven (both of this city) are nicccs of the late Mr Malcolm.
