FANCY DRESS CARNIVAL. The second and final night of the big fancy drcs3 an\l poster skating carnival at the ColoEeeum was, if anything, even more of a success than its predecessor. Again the big floor was crowded with ekatero in all aorta of costumes. Gipsies skated with Rod Indians, fairies found congenial skating company with "sailors bold," butterflies and Japanese ladies, flowers, and pierrota there wore a->.W:ty, while large numbers of the ekatera appeared to enjoy themselves all tho more for '.he fact that they were grotesquely, even hideously garbcvl asswagsmen or "wowsers," or Charlie Chaplins, complete even to the little cane, without which no Oharlie Chaplin is ever complete. Tho seating accommodation was well taxed with a large number of spectators, who watched the various events with gr»>at interest. Following are the results o£ last evenings events:—Gents' half-milo hurdles race: B. Crean, scr, 1; H. GTeenbank, 15yds bhd. 2: H. Guilt her, syds, 3. A close and exciting finish. Potato race (gentlemen): B. Crean 1, H. Greenbank 2, C. Rainbow 8. iieet fancy costumes: Gentleman, Mr Bell (human frog); lady, Miss K. Dixon'(ragtime). .west poster costumes: Gentleman, Mr C. Browne (Palm butter); lady, Mis 3L. Turner (Mazda lamps). Two-step competition: Mr R. -Butterfield and Miss D. Large. Most comical character: Mr R. Spencer (prohibitionist). Tho special prize in tie most comical character competition was awarded tp Mr C. Shaw ("Very Merry "Widow"). hockey match between the Selwyn and Sydenham representatives, five-aside, was a great euccose, the players being frequently applauded-for tho 6kill they displayed. Selwyn won by four goals to nil. Mr C. Shaw was referee. The prizes will be distributed to-morrow evening.
