VERT SMALL YARDING. (BY OUR COMMERCIAL EDITOR.) There was a '"cry small yarding cf stock and a limited attendance in. consequence of the stormy weather. Butchers were tho only buyers for fat stock, and prices for cattle and sheep showed a sharp advance in consequencc of the short supplies. Tho yarding' of fat cattle was mostly of prime quality, well finiohed bullocks forming a large proportion. There were scarccly any store stock offered, and a few small lots of lat lambs were sold with the fat sheep, i'ftt pigs sold well. The few store stock sold were not sufficient to form quotations. '' STORE SHEEP. There was a very small yarding of store 6heep, comprising a dozen lots of moderate quality. There were few buyers present and only a couple of lines were sold, four and 6ixtooth ewes making 323 6d and failing mouth 21s 9d. FAT SHEEP AXD FAT LAMBS. There vvaa not mora than enough fat sheep to fill about four and a half raoea. The sheep showed the effects of the bad weather in their appearanoe, but thero were a few primo lots among them. There was a keen demand from butchers till towards the end of the sale, acd price's showed a Bharp advance. Thero were a few fat lambs penned among the fat sheep, and they also sold well. The range of prices was:— | Extra prime wethers to 56s 6d. Prime wethers 42s to 48s 6d. Others 3-ls' Id to 41s. Extra prime ewes to 46s 9d. Primo ewes 34s 6d to 37s 2d. Others 24s lOd to. 345. The entry 'of fat cattle was a good one. considering the weather, about 200 head coming forward, "and the bulk consisted of prime steers and heifers. There was an advance in prices, and as tho butchers required the whole supply they outbid the export buyers. Compared with the prices current last week,' values showed an advance of about £1 per head.

Fat calves were in very small supply, the entry consisting principally of medium-sized animals, bnt the .oondition throughout was satisfactory. . Competition was keen and prioso ruled high, the range being; — Runners to £6 17s 6d. Good vealers, £3 2a to £6. . Fair vealerß .£2 3s to. £2 19s. Small vealers 6s to 335. STORE CATTLE. A oouple of peps of rising two-year-olds and a pest of yearlings formed the better part of' tbe email offering of store cattle, the remainder being a few rough steers and dry oows. One .pen of two and a half-year heifers made £7 10s, and most of the other stock was passed in. DAIRY COWS. As m other departments, tbo yarding of dairy oattle was a email one, and consisted of about equal proportions of oows and heifers. A few of the heifers showed some quality, but the bulk of the yarding was of an indifferent -class, and some were in low condition. There was a fairly good demand, especially for . the better claae of springers, and values were on a par with those of last week. Cows made £8 to £20 10s, and heifers SI 10s to £15. PIGS. Fat pigs were in small supply. The quality, speaking generally, was satisfactory,' and there was a . good demand. Quotations in;— . Choppers, £S to £7. Extra heavy baooners £6 to £6 lis. Heavy baooners £3 10s to £5 lo». Lighter baooners £4 10s to £5. Equal to BJd per lb. Heavy porkers 60s to 72s Gd. Light porkers 50s to 575. Equal to 9ld to lOd per lb.
The yarding of store piga waa limited to a. few pens, tod for these (he dem&nd was ■weak, ocroral lines being passed. Sales mad©' ware oa a basis below that of last week.
