MAGNETIC OBSEIIVATORY. Meteorological observations taken, at 9.-30 a.m. and 5 p.m. March 21st:--i j
The readings taken at the Ashburton Domain weather station at 9 a.m. yesterday were:—Barometer 23.51, titrjmometcr—maximum 59, minimum 41. Rain, 0.20 in. SUMMARY AND FORECAST. The cyclonc has now passed south of t.hti Chatham Islands. Barometric pressure has recoveredj and now stands about normal over the Dominion. Strong southerly wind.-* continue, with heavy ecaa along the east coast. Rain fell in most parts during the night, but the weather has improved to-day. Present indications arc for moderate to strong south-westerly winds, veering to westerly in and southward of Cook Strait, and cool and changeable weather. The barometer has a rising tendency, especially in the North, but ia dne to fall a?«in shortly in the South.
