METHODIST CHURCH.
INCREASE IN MINISTERS' SALARIES. (SPECIAL TO "THE I'll ESS.") DUNEDIN,. March 11. Ono of tho important business matters dealt with by the Methodist Conference was in regard to salaries. It is now arranged that for this year every ordained minister will have £200 as a minimum salary, and every married home missionary £160 and a furnished house. Up to the present the lowest salary for ordained ministers has been £170, and for married homo missionaries £130. The changed scheme provides for making the ministers' minimum stipend next year a sum not less than £225. The Methodists do not distinguish in the matter cf salary between married and single ministers. Provision is also being made b,~ raising money wherewith to supplement the supernumerary fund in aid of the ministers now on active service.
