THE BANKRUPTCY PROCEEDINGS. APPLICATION FOR SUBSTITUTED SERVICE. In Chambers at the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon, his Honour Mr Justice Herdman heard an ex parte application by Mr Wright for permission for substituted service on Mr J. McCombs, M.P., for Lyttelton. The application was made on behalf of creditors of Mr McCombs who are petitioning the Court to adjudge him a bankrupt. His Honour, after hearing details of tho efforts made to serve Mr McCombs, ordered that the application be renewed in ten days, counsel in the meantime to make fresh endeavours to have personal service made of the documents on Mr McCombs.
