WEST COAST COAL MINERS.

♦ TROUBLE IN THE STATE COLLIERIES. (PRESS ASSOCIATION" TELEGRAM.) GREYMOUTH, March 3. At a meeting of the State Collieries Miners' Union last night, it was 'Jucided to stop work until the men refusing to pay the 2* per cent, levy to assist Australian strike victims decide to contribute. About forty have refused to pay the levy. , Both the Rewanui and Point Elizabeth mines are idle to-day. Another trouble in the State mines is over the position of the weighbridge at Rewanui since the big slip. Tiie men claim that it should bo placed at the mouth of the mine instead of some distance therefrom. The management declined to accede to this request. As the weighbridge is placed in the middle, the brakemen (who are paid tonnage rates) _ cla*.ni there is wastage, and that weight is lost betweeu the two places. ! —
