Lord French informed a deputation in Dublin that military steps were taken solely for the preservation of order. A member of the deputation urged Lord French to ask the King to visit Ireland. TREATMENT OF HUNGERSTRIKERS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received March Bth, 11.50 p.m.) LONDON, March 7. In the House of Commons, Mr A. W. Samuels, Solicitor-General for Ireland, said that no prisoners were being forcibly fed, but those refusing food JiU3t take the consequencps.
