A CABINET DIFFICULTY.
AMICABLE SETTLEMENT. (special to "ihe tress.") WELLINGTON. March S. Hie following announcement was made by the Prime Minister after a meeting of Cabinet this afternoon:— "The little difficulty that has existed in Cabinet for some time has been amicably settled." Mr Massey would say no more than this. Everybody lias known for weeks that Sir .lames Allen and the Hon. G. \Y. Russell havt not been agreeing with each other. Sir James Allen has objected to dual control of returned sick and wounded soldiers. For some purposes these men are under the Defence Department's control, and for other purposes under that of the Health Departrcvnt. The two Departments aud the two Ministers have impinged sharply more than once, and the trouble had to come before Cabinet sooner or later. The arrangements made have not been divulged, but tho Defence Department is resuming complete control of practically all institutions lor returned sick and wounded soldiers. I
