— -♦ An inquest was held yesterday by Mr I 11. W. bishop, District Coroner, touch- j ing the death of' Hugh X). btott, a m&iried man, 5U years of age, residing at 173 liollostou street, Lmtvood, whose bodv was found in the Avon, near the Daflington bridge, the previous afternoon. Deceased's wile gave evidence to the effect that deceased had not been in good health for some years, and thai, ho had also had some financial worry of late. He had, however, never showed any intention of suicide. He left honia about o a.m. on Wednesday for a walk, and did not return. A verdict was recorded that deceased was found drowned, and that there was no evidence to show how he got into the water. The. adjourned inquest on the body of William Dunbar, who was found dead on his bed at Hiilver Bros.' farm, Longbeaeh, on February Gth, was hold yesterday morning, before Mr V. G. i>ay, S.M. Dr. Hunter gave evidence that death was due to heart disease, and a verdict was returned in accordance with the medical testimony. Charles Ericson, miner' and labourer, occupying a room at 201 Hereford street, died yesterday, at the Hospital. He had been in indifferent health for about six weeks, suffering from a strained heart, paused by harvesting operations in South Canterbury. He became seriously ill yesterday morning, and Dr. Whettc-r being called in, ordered his removal to the Hospital, where he died shortly after admission. At an inquest held later hy the Coroner (Mr H..W. Bishop 1 ) a verdict of death from syncope was recorded. Ericson, who was a, single "aan, 38 years of age. and came originally from the West Coast, was a noted draughts player for years, (PRESS ASSOCIATION' TELEGRAMS.) WATvGANCI, March 8. John Hood was drowned yesterday as a result of a boating accident off the Ivai-iwi beach, near Wanganui. The deceased and several natives went out fishing, and on their return the boat capsized in the r.urf. The natives scrambled ashore, and then found that deceased was missing. The body was recovered shortly afterwards. Tho_ deceased was born in. Wsinganui sixty years ago. and wis a very well-known wheelwright.
