fMEETING OF BOARD OF GOVERNORS. The Board of. Governors o£ the Chrietcluirch Technical College mot last evening, frcseni—liesars Geo. Scott, J. A. Black AV. H. Cooper, E. JDenham. W. R. Gahag'an, W. Hayward, C. W. Hervey, W. . C. Large, C. J. Maddren, C. li. Opie, S. C. j Ov.-en, W. T. Robinson, H. R. Rusbridge, j W. J. Wills. and McGregor Wright. Tho Building Committee reported that it , had accepted the -tender of Messrs Taylor j and Oakley at £323 12s Gel, lor the installation of a hot-water heating ccrvic© in the new building, and for tho improvement of the j heating of the south wing. I Tho Director (Mr J. Hov.-ell) stated that j the nuiubcTS enrolled in the different departments ot the- school were as follow (tho corresponding numbers at. approximately the j same period last year be in? i u parentheaee): j —Commercial department -58 <205>. home : science department 76 (GS), special course at ■ the Hostel 1 (4), industrial department 147 (125\ agricultural -4- (361; total (438). ! The total number enrolled for the whole- or ' last year was 163, and this was an od- j vanes 0f.4-2 on the previous maximum of 1-21 in 1915, The chairman said the Board would havo learnt with great pleasure of tho large crcupe that had taken place in the mmibere attending the school. This increase much more than justified tho extensions which were being made, and indeed, without thwsO additions tho position would hnv-i been intolerable, It was decided to protest against the. withholding by the Education Department of •tho war bonus from the office etaff-s of Technical Colleges.
