Evidence has been submitted before the Senate and House Committee, disclosing nation-wide propaganda by the National German-American Alliance to defeat the nomination of either President Wilson or ex-President _ Roosevelt, prior to the last presidential election. The President of the Toledo (Ohio) Chamber of Commerce produced a letter, allegedly written by Richard Bartholds, a former Congressman, to tho Alliance, declaring:—"\Ve must use our votes to return only those favouring Germanism." WHEAT PRICES FIXED. WASHINGTON, February 24. President W r ilson has issued a proclamation fixing the minimum price of 1918 whoat at 220 cents. Ho is urging farmers to serve humanity by hastening deliveries. President Wilson indicated that farmers would bo exeniDt from tho draft. CONTROL OF RAILWAYS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) WASHINGTON, February 24. The Senate has passed the Railroads Control Bill, giving President Wilson absoluto power to operato tho nation's railroads.
