THE "GO-SLOW" POLICY

Tho Government at present is tip against a difficult problem in regard to the coal output. _ The miners throughout the Dominion have apparently adopted the "Go Slow" policy, and in some of the principal mines production has been reduced by at least one-third, in spite of the fact that the same number of men is employed. All users of coal, are expecting a shortage or sunplies and 'increased cost and some firms are taking steps to provide substitutes in case of a complete stoppage. The gas and electric li»ht companies are always the nrst to foel the cffect of any interruption in the coal supply, as was the case m Sydney recently, when the city was m darkness for several nights. In tho event of a coal striko m New Zealand, many country people- would be better off so far as house and shop lighting is concerned than the city dwellers, as during the past two years over ~oou country homes and stores have been fitted with "Wizard Lighting Systems." The "Wizard Light is beinf generally adopted for house and storo lighting in ali country distnets, and tho agents find it difficult to keep pace with the demand. This light is cheaper, cleaner, and better in quality than coal,, gas, and users aro indcuendent of labour troubles. The lamps produce gas from a mixture of 97 per cent, air and 3 per cent benzine vanour, and provided a case of benzine is kept in reserve, labour troubles cannot intorfero with tbe owner of a "Wizard" plant, so far as his house or store lighting is conto its utility for lighting, it is unrivalled for cooking purposes. Cooking outfits, complete with all accessories, may be had from the small price of £lo up, making it tho most alluring labour-saving proposition obtainable. .
