METROPOLITAN TROTTING CLUB.

EASTER MEETING.

The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's Easter. Mooting opens at Addington to-dav, and only fine weather is needed to ensure a successful gathering, and one that will maintain tho high standard characteristic of the leading Club's fixtures. Although the withdrawals from the opening day's events have been fairly numerous, there still remains sufficient material to ensure a good day's racing. Tho course is in capital order, and some smart performances may be looked for. Tho first event on the card, the Introductory Handicap, will be looked forward to with considerable interest, as the field includes several of tho candidates for tho Champion Stakes, to be decided on the second day. Acushlli Machrce, Peter Mac, Bird wood, Paul Dufault, Beewood, and Vice-Admiral have shown themselves to be olds of much promise, and they, with tho other horses engaged in to-day's event, .should furnish, a fine contest. The ojeven horses engaged in the principal event, the Easter Handicap, represent a very high class. Admiral Wood, the scratch horse, has been set a pretty stiff task, especially in view of the form shown in training by such of his opponents as Author Dillon, Adelaide Direct, and Tamarisk. The mile races have, as usual, drawn a lot of very speedy pacers, and they will be keenly contested. The first race will start at 11.45 a.mi, and the following is tho daj's card:— INTRODUCTORY HANDICAP (in harness), of 550 eovs; 3.39 or bettor. Ono mil© and a baif.
